Frequently Asked Questions

1) Advanced Motorcycle Training is about improving your skills to a higher level than what they are today. Getting you to ride by a 'System' that has been used by Police Forces throughout the U.K. for years and of which has been proven to be the safest. Improving your Observations, Positioning, Cornering Techniques and general machine handling thus making you a better, safer rider.

2) Advanced Riding will make you more aware of what is happening around you. Your hazard assessment and management will improve, your observations will improve, your awareness will improve, in fact your whole riding will improve. You will be a better, safer rider.

3) All you need is a Full Motorcycle Licence, a Motorcycle that is fully documented (insured etc.) and the will to learn.

4) Advanced Courses are as long as you want them to be. Obviously, the longer your course, the more you will learn and the better rider you become. It is entirely up to you, you can book one, two or three days.

5) You do not have to take a test after your course. There are options open to you if you wish to take them. We have our own set up or you can go for the Institute of Advanced Motorists or RoSPA motorcycle tests, this is entirely up to yourself and of course, at your own expense.

6) Our Instructors are very highly qualified riders. They are all Police Advanced Riders or they hold a RoSPA Diploma. By keeping to this high standard, we know you will get the very best Instruction.

7) The cost of a course starts at £90:00 per day on a one to one basis. We also do an hourly rate at a minimum of two hour sessions at £16:00 per hour

8) You will get the pleasure in being confident in yourself, confidence in your riding abilities and also, you will be a safer rider.

9) Our courses are based in the Staffordshire Area. If you are travelling to us from out of town, then we can fix you up with a hotel, bed and breakfast or whatever, but this is at your own expense of course.

10) We abide by the rules of the road, and all speed limits are adhered to.

11) You are never to old to learn, and you never stop learning. It is a fool that thinks he/she knows it all.

12) You are never to young to start. The sooner you look into advanced riding the better. By going into it as soon as possible, you don't get into any bad habits and you are just building on what you have already learned from you Learner Course.

13) The sooner you start looking at advanced motorcycle riding the better. The saying goes that 'Old habits die hard' so why get into any, start as soon as you can.

14) We use top quality Autocom Intercom Systems that work bike to bike. However, you cannot talk back to the instructor unless you have the appropriate headset fitted to your helmet. We do not supply that section due to the amount of different helmets on the market and expense of course.

15) We normally run on a one to one basis for best results, but if you wanted to run a course with a friend then this can be arranged for you.

16) There are no drawbacks are hidden catches to our courses. We aim to provide the best instruction at a price you can afford

17) The reason we can run our courses cheaply is that we do not have the overheads that others have. This does not affect the quality of instruction.

18) We can run refresher training courses, once you have completed initial courses, and at whatever intervals you like. It is up to you, if you have been riding for some time we can incorporate Advanced Techniques within a Ride and Survive Course.

20) You have to pay a deposit to ensure that your instructor will turn up unless by prior arrangement. The balance is paid on the day to your instructor.

21) Once we have received your booking, you will be informed of who your instructor is and where the agreed meeting point is.

22) Cancellation of your course will only be due to extreme weather conditions, rain, unless torential, will not stop play. If your course is cancelled due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances, it will be reallocated to another day.

23) We advise you to wear proper protective motorcycle clothing such as leathers or the Cordura type clothing. We do not supply any clothing whatsoever. Trousers, 'T' shirts, Trainers are NOT suitable clothing

24) OXOCN represents the Oxford College Network, and the training course is relevant to the certificate issued. For those people taking a degree, this certificate adds another two points towards that degree

25) OXOCN Courses are an 'Exclusive' 4 day Advanced Course, consisting of 2 days classroom and 2 days on the road. They are exclusive courses to Two Wheel Advanced Training and partner companies. Check course dates for availabilty

27) If you would like to book a CBT, then ring 01889 - 803652 for all the information you require and for course availability. We supply all machines that are fully insured for you to use, but you can use your own machine if you so require. CBT's normally last all day, the sylabus being set by the Driving Standard Agency. The CBT is NOT a test and you cannot fail it. If you are new to motorcycling and it is felt that you need some more off road work for safety reasons, then we ask you to come back another day for more off road work, it is as simple as that.
