Direct Access Courses

Direct Access or DAS Courses

These courses are designed for the person over 21 years of age. Introduced by the Driving Standard Agency to allow riders about to take the bike test, to train on a larger CC motorcycle and take the DSA test on that machine. Once the 'L' test has been passed, the rider can then ride any capacity machine, without any restrictions.

For Direct Access Instruction, ALL Instructors must have the correct qualification to participate. This is issued by the DSA and it is obtained by attending a course at Cardington, which is run by the DSA themselves. If the Instructor has not got this qualification, then he or she is not allowed to instruct riders for Direct Access purposes.

Of course, anyone can take the riding test on a 125cc machine, but he or she is then restricted for 2 years on the capacity machine they can ride. Instructors for 125cc machines do not require the Driving Standard Agency Authorisation. We cover Stafford, Rugeley, Cannock, Hednesford, Lichfield and all of the surrounding areas.
